Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about finding songs by uploading files
What file formats are supported?
We support MP3, WAV, OGG, AAC, FLAC, M4A, MP4, and WebM. If your file is in another format, convert it to MP3 first using a free tool.
Is there a file size limit?
The maximum file size is 50 MB. Most audio clips and short video recordings are well under this limit.
Are my uploaded files kept private?
Yes. Your files are processed solely for identification and deleted immediately after. We never store or share your audio data.
What is the difference between Quick Identify and Full File Scan?
Quick Identify recognizes a 30-second clip from the position you choose — it's fast and free for everyone. Full File Scan (for registered users) analyzes your entire file and returns every song found with exact timestamps.
How do I identify a song at a specific time in the file?
After you select your file, a timeline slider appears. Drag it to the moment you want to identify, then click Identify. The system will analyze the 30 seconds starting from that point.
Why do I need to sign in for Full File Scan?
Full File Scan processes the entire audio file through our premium recognition pipeline, which takes more computing resources. Registered accounts help us keep this feature sustainable.
How long does the audio need to be?
A clean 5–10 second clip is usually enough. For best results, use a 20–30 second segment with clear audio and minimal background noise.
Why wasn't my song identified?
This can happen if the track isn't in our database, the audio quality is poor, or the snippet is too short. Try a different timestamp or upload a longer, cleaner clip.
Can it find multiple songs in a podcast or mix?
Yes — use Full File Scan (available after signing up) to detect all songs in the file and get timestamps for each one.
Does it work on mobile browsers?
Yes! The upload page works on modern mobile browsers. You can select an audio or video file directly from your phone's gallery.
